Scotland's academic community is bursting with innovative ideas at every stage of the educational journey whether it’s at school, college or university. But the idea and its creator can’t go it alone.  They need to be nurtured and supported every step of the way in order to reach their full potential and turn that seed of an idea into commercially viable business.

The diverse range of enterprise support organisations on offer to Scotland’s student entrepreneurs at any stage of development is astounding – but don’t just take our word for it! #ScotlandCanDo

The above videos were filmed during The Educational Journey of an Entrepreneur (#EJEScot16) which took place on June 2nd 2016 at RBS Gogarburn. This was a collaborative event between Converge Challenge, Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) and Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) in response to a call for step change in enterprise support within tertiary education by The Scottish Government and Scotland CAN Do agenda. The event included a keynote speech from John Swinney, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills and attracted around 250 representatives from early stage businesses, support organisations, universities, colleges.

Converge Challenge, SIE and YES will continue to work collaboratively:

  • To inspire all tertiary education students to begin an entrepreneurial journey and develop a mind-set, behaviours and skills that can benefit them throughout their lives
  • To encourage those students wishing to pursue an idea and assist in the refinement of their concept and introduce them to the wider entrepreneurial network
  • To support those students aiming to start a venture with hands on help to enable the start-up of an ambitious, profitable and sustainable business
